Industrial Farmhouse Dresser

Hi guys! Happy Friday to everyone out there! 🙂  As the week winds down, I wanted to do something a little fun, so I thought I would do a small feature of one of my favorite pieces! I’m going to tell you the story behind my industrial farmhouse dresser.  This is probably my most complimented piece of furniture, and it’s also my cheapest (free!).

This piece is my spirit animal.

It totally embodies my decorating style and how I achieve it.  (I’m in desperate need of one of those bumper stickers that says “Caution: sudden stops for junk”)  I found this piece on the curb, yep! Of course it was raining outside.  We were driving down the road when I caught a glimpse of  it out of the corner of my eye.   My husband and I argued about going back to look it at for a few blocks before he turned the car around.  It was on a busy street, so we had to park on the closest side street and carry it back to the car.  I just knew that this dented, rusted metal dresser had some potential!

The first (and last) thing I did to this dresser was change the knobs.  It’s obviously a very industrial looking piece and it needed to be softened up a bit.  I thought glass knobs would do the trick, just enough to catch your eye, but not enough to be distracting.

I had plans to add a stained wood or distressed wood top, but the longer I put that project off, the more I liked it “as is”.    What do you think?  Anyone else have a favorite piece that was someone else’s junk?
