Stylish Toy Storage Options

Raising kids and trying to maintain a sense of style in your home is difficult, but it can be done! Obviously, the first priority is to keep the environment safe for little ones.  At the same time, you don’t have to have an entire house that looks like “the play room”.  I want to share a few tips on adding stylish toy storage solutions to your home.

Storage, storage, storage

This is what I think about with any piece of furniture I bring into my home, “How can I make it work for me?  What can I store in it?”  We don’t have a designated play room like many families, but I don’t always want to send my daughter off to her room to play with her toys.  I really enjoy the company of having her downstairs playing, and I love listening to her use her imagination. In order to keep plenty of toys readily available on the first floor, I have lots of “hiding spots”.  I suggest at least 2 hiding spots per living area, more depending on the size of the room.

Keep things kinda organized

Don’t be too concerned with keeping everything very organized.  Instead, have general places for general things.  For example, the dresser in our living room is for art supplies, beyond that I don’t get crazy about what’s inside.  You will drive yourself nuts trying to keep a 3-year-old from putting the toy purses in with the baby doll accessories, just saying.

Think outside the box

I’m naturally drawn to pieces of furniture that feature some element of storage.  I’m pretty sure starting out in a tiny apartment made me this way.  If you’re not like me, I’m going to share some examples of my “hiding spots” to get your wheels turning. You may already have great pieces of furniture with serious toy hiding potential, but they aren’t being used to their fullest.  Take an inventory and get creative with how you use these pieces.   You can do it! You can take back your house and live happily amongst many toys. 🙂
